We’re egg-static over here! We just fulfilled our most ambitious need yet. The target was a Nella 16″ stainless steel countertop electric griddle valued at $599.00 +tax. This beautiful piece of kitchen equipment was needed by the cooking team at Sistering, a multi-service agency for at-risk, socially isolated women and trans people in Toronto who are homeless or precariously housed.

“This has been on our wish list for a very long time,” said Nicolette Felix, the Sistering Chef responsible for preparing up to 500 meals a day for over 200 women. The new griddle will allow the cooking team (comprised mainly of volunteers) to offer eggs during the weekday breakfast service.

Despite the lofty target, the Troop community came together in egg-straordinary fashion and cracked this need out of the frying pan. A total of 13 Troopers helped us surpass our target and raise $700. The Sistering team will receive their new griddle in a few days and a cash donation for any remaining funds.

Nicolette was very excited when the need target was hit. “This is amazing news and all will be delighted to hear about the arrival of this much anticipated griddle. This griddle will make a huge difference in what we are able to offer at all meals.”

Regardless of how you like your eggs (grass-feed, free range, or none at all), the new griddle will offer a much needed source of protein to the women accessing the Sistering drop in food service. That’s truly egg-squisite!

Enough with the egg yolks. The comedi-hen has left the coop.
