We Can All Sleep Well

There’s nothing short of incredible about Dawn Gillespie, and there are over a hundred kids in Toronto who would agree with me. Six years ago, this retired Toronto school principal found her second calling as a bedroom reno queen for kids in need of a restful environment.

Since then her impact on the lives of the GTA kids helped through her not for profit, Room For A Child, can clearly be seen in the numerous thank-you letters received from grateful kids all over the city.

How we helped

We wanted to help Dawn add one more name to her list of kids who are sleeping better by covering the cost of her biggest expense – the box spring and mattress. Dawn is more than happy to accept slightly used bedroom furniture to complete the look of her renos, but when it comes to the place where these kids lay their heads to rest at night, nothing but a new mattress will do.

The call went out to the Troop team and within three days we pooled the funds needed to give Dawn access to a new mattress set from her supplier. Thanks to a few caring neighbours she can kick off her next reno and a local boy will soon have his own little man cave.

I’m a strong believer that there’s a little Dawn Gillespie in all of us. This week we thank the amazing Troopers who showed it.
