After coming across reBOOT Canada when we were purchasing a refurbished laptop for a
local refugee family, we were blown away by the great work they do. So this week we feature their Need – recycled electronics in order to provide non-profits, charities, and individuals with access to subsidized technology, software, and training.
reBOOT Canada is a registered charity, they’ve been around since 1995 and they’ve distributed over 300,000 pieces of equipment.
And here’s the local connection… reBOOT Canada has been providing our Parkdale neighbours with FREE WIFI since 2016 through hotspots at Parkdale Activity and Recreation Centre and Parkdale Community Legal Services. They are committed to making access to the internet available to everyone.
So, we’re putting a call out to Troop members for your old computers, laptops, printers, smartphones and any extra electronic cables you have around the house. Troop will drive around the neighbourhood (and by that we mean Roncy / High Park) and pick up all items on
Wednesday, June 26th between 8-11am and deliver them to reBOOT Canada that afternoon.
Register for a pick up below.
Note: Make sure all memory is backed-up and/or wiped from any hard drives… no one wants Prom 1992 pics floating around (and reBOOT Canada is not responsible for data stored on donated items). Also, if you could pack it up in a box that would be great! We can ring your doorbell or you can leave items on the porch to be picked up.
To get a charitable receipt for your donation,
complete this form and select ‘Drop-off at Depot’ (which Troop will do for you).
