Make a house a home

Many people are looking forward to saying good riddance to 2020 as we get ready to close out another year.  Some of us more than others.

For one man, supported by the team at Fred Victor,  the end of this year beings the end of an abusive relationship.  As he starts the healing process and makes a move from homelessness into a new apartment, he’s looking for a helping hand to furnish his new place.

How you can help

We’re pooling funds to purchase a double mattress and bed frame.  We’re also putting the word out to caring neighbours looking for a new home for a slightly used couch and kitchen table with a few chairs.  Let us know if you can help and we’ll figure out the pick up and delivery details.

Update:  Two awesome neighbours helped us fulfill this need.  Any funds raised will go towards the delivery costs of getting all the furniture to this neighbour.  Thank you!

When Everything Changed

It was February 2018, and I was running super late for an important pitch meeting for a big account. I was stressed and anxious about closing the deal. I parked in the underground lot and hightailed it up the stairs to the street for the short walk to work. As I looked up, I saw a disheveled man with an oversized jacket standing at the corner.

Troop Started a Year Ago – Is it Working?

It was a year ago this month that I started Troop. The idea was simple. I believed that if more neighbours knew about the needs in their area then they would be more willing to help. I believed (and still do!) that more people want to help
