Refurbished laptop for a nonprofit

Computer rage is a very real problem people have towards a computer due to heightened anger or frustration; this includes cursing or yelling at a computer, slamming or throwing the keyboard or mouse, and assaulting the laptop or monitor with an object or weapon. We’ve all been there.

Anick Silencieux started a nonprofit two years ago called Support Black Charities, where she vets and shares information about organizations serving the Black community in a variety of areas from arts and education to human rights and inequality. She helps these charities build their digital presence on her site and theirs.  Her efforts and contributions are entirely self-funded.  She’s a digital Rockstar helping Black charities and nonprofits attract more support. Much like a musical Rockstar who smashes their guitar on stage, she’s just about ready to do this with her laptop; It’s on the brink of death, but she’s been holding on because her funds are limited and it’s crucial to her business (talk about willpower).

How can you help?

We’re asking neighbours to pitch in to help Anick get a refurbished laptop from Reboot Canada so she can release the computer rage, kick that laptop to the curb side, keep jamming support for Black charities and work without needing to headbang. Let’s help her rock on!

Troop Started a Year Ago – Is it Working?

It was a year ago this month that I started Troop. The idea was simple. I believed that if more neighbours knew about the needs in their area then they would be more willing to help. I believed (and still do!) that more people want to help

Is COVID-19 Actually A Good Thing?

COVID-19? A good thing? No. Hell no. But damn there is a seriously bright silver lining here and I hope I’m not the only one squinting. Devastation caused by the coronavirus has reached all corners of the world, but so has a level of compassion that we haven’t seen in decades, if ever.

Laughter is The Best Form of Therapy

During these trying times, we offer some light-hearted relief by sharing some of the most comical memes, videos and tweets that have popped up over the past few weeks. In the words of Mark Twain, “The human race has only one really effective weapon and that is laughter.” Enjoy.
